Public website for an orthopaedic surgeon in Nelspruit. Tailor-made to a clinical-services brief.

The problem

A specialist orthopaedic surgeon in Nelspruit needed a credible online presence to drive consultations. Most medical practice websites in South Africa are template-driven and indistinguishable from one another. The doctor wanted something specific: a 3D rotating Vitruvian man where clicking on the shoulder or elbow surfaces the relevant specialisation. SEO needed to dominate orthopaedic search terms across the Lowveld. The site had to integrate with Google Business for review and discovery flow.

Why custom over SaaS

Squarespace and Wix cannot build the 3D anatomy interaction. Template-based medical sites cannot rank against a hand-crafted SEO build. The doctor had a specific vision and templates would not accommodate it.

What we built

Next.js App Router with image-rich responsive design. Hand-optimised meta tags and structured data targeting orthopaedic queries across Nelspruit, Mbombela, and the broader Lowveld market. Google Business integration for reviews and discovery flow. A custom 3D Vitruvian man rendered with Three.js, with click handlers on each anatomical region routing the visitor to the relevant specialisation page. Fast, accessible, and built exactly to the doctor's brief.

The hardest part

Translating a doctor's specific brief into a working tailored site without imposing our own design preferences. We would not have designed the site the way it is. The doctor wanted exactly this and got exactly this. That discipline (build what the client needs, not what is most fun to build) is the engineering culture this whole company runs on.

Outcomes

Live since August 2025 and ranking for primary orthopaedic keywords in the Lowveld market. Driving consultation bookings via the integrated request flow. The site is the doctor's primary referral asset and a small showcase of what tailor-made looks like in practice.
